“No Segregation, no Collection” a fresh start in Cebu City

Posted on

The strict implementation is also pursuant to Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2010, and City Ordinance No. 2031, or the Solid Waste Segregation at Source.

Osmeña earlier issued a memorandum directing all barangays and department heads to strictly enforce the “no segregation, no collection” of solid waste policy starting March 1.

The Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) also began its intensive information and education campaign on solid waste management in the different barangays on Thursday.

Former City Councilor Ma. Nida Cabrera, who now heads CCENRO, said that unsegregated garbage would not be collected and those who are disposing mixed waste shall be penalized.

Biodegradable wastes will be collected every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, while non-biodegradables will be collected on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.-Paull Alegre/Newsline.ph
