Bong Go urges youth to get into sports, avoid illegal drugsPosted on
NAVOTAS CITY (October 21) – Christopher Lawrence “Kuya Bong” Go has encouraged the youth to focus on sports instead of engaging into illegal drugs.
“Sa pamamagitan po ng sports, maaalala ng ating mga kabataan na lumayo na lang sa illegal na droga, maglaro na lang tayo ng basketball. Marami po tayong kabataan na nabiktima ng illegal na droga. Tulungan na lang po natin sila. May mga rehab centers po tayo para sa mga gustong magbagong buhay,” he said.
(Through sports, the youth will remember to avoid illegal drugs, and play basketball instead. A lot of our youth was victimized by illegal drugs, let us help them. There are available rehabilitation centers to those who wish for a second chance. They are just victims.)
He also o promoted his “3-Pointer ng Bayan” campaign that is designed to keep the youth from using illegal drugs and engaging in crime.
Under this advocacy, sports equipment will be provided to schools to help develop young athletes. He also holds three-point shoot-out games to encourage the youth to become better athletes.
During the opening ceremony of the Vice Clint’s Cup in Navotas Sports Complex, Go joined the three-point-shoot-out and played against other local government officials.
“Isa po ito sa aking adbokasiya – itong sports lalong-lalo na po ang basketball, in support of the President’s campaign laban sa droga, corruption at kriminalidad… isang paraan ang sports para malayo ang kabataan sa masamang bisyo,” Kuya Bong Go said.
