Fil-Canadian Copaa’s Filipino Pavilion a huge success

EDMONTON, Canada — The Congress of Philippine Associations in Alberta’s hosting of the Filipino Pavilion to Heritage Festival guests this year ended on a high note, Monday.
Copaa spokesman Lito Velasco, editor of the Alberta Filipino Journal, said the three-day event displayed harmony among the different cultures in Edmonton.
“We would like to thank the Filipino community and other cultural communities for the support,” he said.
Out of the 71 pavilions here, performers at the Filipino pavilion won first runner-up in the Cultural Entertainment Awards. Copaa president Jun Angeles, Journal publisher, praised the sterling performances by the Karilagan Dance Society and Saranay Rondalla and Dance Troupe.
“Thanks to the Committee of the Heritage Festival, judges, directors for the certificate of award given to our entertainment,” said Angeles.
“We are proud that the Festival participants embraced our culture and enjoyed our food,” he added.
Angeles and the officers also expressed their gratitude to the Edmonton Heritage Festival Foundation, Saranay Rondalla and the Arts and Crafts, Palabok House Restaurant, Rollymie Restaurant, Phil.(Rudy Del Rosario) Catering Services, FreeDX of Edmonton, Batangueno Association of Edmonton, TAO Canada, all volunteers and patrons.-Moses Billacura/Newsline.ph (Canada)
