Sandiganbayan charged Ex-PNP Alan Chief PurisimaPosted on
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan charged former Philippine National Police Director Alan Purisima with eight counts of perjury, for failing to disclose his wife’s property and several firearms in his Statement of Assets and Liability and Networth (SALN).
The Office of the Ombudsman filed the case on February 23 but was released to the media only yesterday, February 27.
The Ombudsman investigators found that Purisima failed to declare some of his assets when he filled his 2006 to 2009 and 2011 to 2014 SALNs.
The Investigators found out that Purisima failed to disclose the following properties in his SALN:
-2006 and 2007, land property which is under the name of his wife Maria Ramona Lydia.
-2008, another land property under his wife’s name was not disclosed.
-2009, two of his wife’s land properties plus another land property under his name were not disclosed.
-2011, all 3 land properties were still not disclosed, plus two firearms which belonged to Purisima.
-2012, there were 3 land properties and 3 firearms;
-2013, there were 3 land properties and 4 firearms;
-2014, only the 3 land properties were not disclosed.
The Sandiganbayan set P6,000 baildbond for each count.
The Ombudsman earlier ordered the forfeiture of P29-million worth of Purisima’s alleged ill-gotten wealth.
The anti-graft law requires every public official and employee to disclose their assets and liabilities. Failure to declare properties constitutes perjury.-Editha Z. Cadudaya/Newsline.ph
