Duterte arrives in Hong Kong for a working visitPosted on
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday night, April 10, after his successful trip to Hainan Province in China.
Right after attending the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) and the bilateral meetings in Hainan, Duterte proceeded to Hongkong where thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers eagerly waited for him.
This is Duterte’s second time to be with OFW in Hongkong who was among his strong and vocal supporters during the 2016 presidential elections. Duterte visited them in May last year.
Duterte’s chartered aircraft touched down at 11:34 p.m. at Hong Kong International Airport.
Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Antonio Morales and Deputy Consul General Roderico Atienza, received Duterte and his party.
Fiona So, Chief Officer (visits) and Honorary Aide-de-Camp Lam Kam-Kwong also welcomed President Duterte.
On April 12, the President will meet with around 2,500 Filipinos in Hong Kong.
Duterte will have a forum with the OFW’s, where he will listen and integrate with them.
The Duterte administration has provided economic and social support to the OFW’s and their families.
