DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao – Anti-narcotics agents, backed by the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion and police, arrested a member of Moro rebel group and his wife during anti-drug operation in Barangay Poblacion Dalican here Friday.
Armed with search warrant issued by the 12th Regional Trial Court Branch 13 Judge Bansawan Ibrahim, agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM), raided the house of couple Saguiara Diang and Maguid Taug Abdul in Barangay Poblacion Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao at 6:30 a.m.
The couple did not resist arrest and refused to answer reporters’ question.
In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Aaron N Aquino, PDEA-ARMM Director Juvenal Blanquera Azurin said Abdul, 42, claimed he was a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Azurin said the raid led to the recovery of 13 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P150,000, a cal. 45 pistol, mobile phones that contained text messages on the suspects’ illegal drug transactions, P770 cash and MILF identification cards of Abdul.
Charges for violation of RA 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Illegal Possessions of Firearms and Ammunitions) are being prepared against the suspects now detained at PDEA-ARMM custodial facility in PC Hill, Cotabato City. -Edwin O. Fernandez
