Violence mars pre-election in Brgy. 23-C, Davao CityPosted on
DAVAO CITY (May 14)- Violence marked the last night of the campaign for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections in Barangay 23-C, here.
The war between rival candidates, reelectionist Allimodin Usman and his rival Amilbangsa Manding has turned violent, which resulted to the injury of three people Sunday night.
The victims were identified as Alcon Ebrahim, 48, who was just passed by the place of incident; Alibaser Cabuntalan,34, a supporter of Manding who sustained a gunshot wound on his left foot and Abdul Amar Asis, 29, supporter of Usman who sustained a stab wounds on his back.
Sta. Ana Police Station Commander Chief Insp. Nolan Raquid said that around 7:00 p.m. of May12, his office received a call about the alleged shooting incident which transpired in front of a school at Purok 3, Isla Verde in the said barangay.
Raquid said he immediately went to the area and found that the incident was due to the clash between supporters of incumbent Barangay Captain Usman and former Barangay Captain Manding.
He said, according to the witnesses the police interviewed, a heated altercation which ensued into a fist fight of the supporters resulted to shooting incident. “In the midst of commotion, successive gun fires were heard coming from unknown direction,” Raquid added.
Raquid said the injured people were brought to the hospital and all of them are already on stable condition.
It can be recalled, Manding didn’t finish his term as barangay Captain in 2013, he left Davao City secretly, after then Mayor , now President Rodrigo Duterte asked him to submit a regular report on the alleged drugs activities in his village. –Armando Fenequito/NewsLine.ph
