DAVAO CITY (June 27) — Telecommunications and digital service firm PLDT Inc. said that the clarificatory order issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)  to regularize workers, without condition, did not observe due process.

In a statement, PLDT said the decision was “issued immediately” after the meeting the DOLE’s meeting with its labor union. Manggagawa sa Komunikasyon sa Pilipinas (MKP).

“Regretfully, because the Clarificatory Order was issued immediately after this meeting with the MKP, it cannot escape the impression that the Order is based entirely on a factual position advocated by the MKP which is inaccurate and misleading,”. PLDT said.

The telecommunications firm said it was not able to receive a “fair hearing” on the matter, nor received any communication to attend a meeting with the labor union.

The clarificatory order of DOLE was issued after receiving reports that the company was set to terminate over 7,000 workers.    On May 30, the DOLE- National Capital Region issued its Writ of Execution ordering the regularization of PLDT contractual workers.  (Jiann Padillo/NewsLine)
