DAVAO CITY— Two individuals who are allegedly involved in printing fake identification cards for public utility jitney drivers were arrested inside a mall here at around 2:35 p.m. on Thursday.

Police Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said a male and a female were arrested inside the printing shop inside a mall that has been operating for the last six years.

The male suspect who owns the computer shop is a resident of Barangay Matina while the male suspect is a resident of 76-A Bucana, this city.

Tuazon revealed that the police set up an entrapment operation after a driver reported the printing of fake driver’s identification cards (IDs) when such IDs are only issued by the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO).

Following the report, personnel of the DCPO’s San Pedro police station, the Anti-Scam Unit of Davao City, and the CTTMO caught the suspects at Diaz Mall and confiscated one set of computers with two printers and one laminating machine.

The two suspects will be charged for falsification of public documents. If found guilty the penalty is six months and one day imprisonment.

The CTTMO however did not reveal how many fake IDs the suspects were able to produce all these years.

The City Police are warning the residents of the city against individuals promising to secure driver’s IDs on their behalf and not to engage with them saying they are just wasting their resources.
