2 killed,3 wounded as military truck plowed into Christmas Eve shoppers in Davao City

DAVAO CITY — Two Christmas Eve shoppers were killed while three others were wounded when the KM450 truck driven by a civilian rammed plowed Pichon Street in Bankerohan Public Market at around 5:30 in the morning today.

San Pedro Police Chief Major Marvin Hugos identified the victims as Jamie Lopez Cole 63-years-old from Km. 10 Barangay Cabantian Buhangin District, and 34-year-old Rocel Luna Haspe from Purok 15 Green St. Spring Village Barangay Ma-a, this city.

Hugos has identified the civilian who suddenly took over the KM450 as, Creanandy Rodriguez Cadiente, 44 years old from Purok 12 St John Bucana.

Meanwhile, those who were wounded are identified Teresita Pilapil Tangaro 45-years-old from Piapi Boulevard, Michael Baldoman Maghuyop 44-years-old from Brgy. Mandug and Mae Antoneth P. Anticamara 20-year-old from Purok 11 Sto. Nino, Brgy 76-A Bucana,

Colonel Ronald Valdez, deputy commander of Task Force Davao deputy Commander told Newsline they have coordinated with the victims families “We take full responsibility over the incident, our sympathies and apologies over the incident, we have coordinated with the families of the victims. We are closely working with the Davao City Police Office, and the San Pedro Police Precinct who are on top of the situation.”

“We would like to assure the public that we are working to secure the city and, again, we apologize to the family and the general public” Valdez said.

Except for Tangaro, valdez said, other wounded victims have been released by the doctors of Southern Philippines Medical Center after a check up.

Valdez said, the driver military truck driver whom he identified as PFC Patrick Trumata, got out to check at the back of the car after the troop came down to guard the market, when suddenly Cadiente maneuvered the KM450. the task Force Davao personnel immediately arrested the latter.

The city government by the orders of Mayor Sebastian Duterte immediately helped the TF Davao to sort the concerns with the families of the victims from the burial requirement to the damaged vehicles.
