24 injured in Holy Thursday PUJ collision in Davao City

DAVAO CITY (April 17) – Twenty-four individuals sustained injuries following a collision between two public utility jeepneys (PUJs) along Daang Maharlika Highway in Barangay Vicente Hizon Sr., Lanang, at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Thursday.​

According to the police report, both PUJs were traveling southbound toward downtown Davao when one of the vehicles, driven by Rico Amate Cabaluna, 38, of Caloocan City, swerved to the right to drop off a passenger. This maneuver resulted in a collision with another PUJ driven by Jonel Limentang Andaya, 24, from New Corella, Davao del Norte.​

All passengers from both vehicles, including the drivers, were injured and transported to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment.​

Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident and to assess any potential liabilities.
