3 busted inside Marawi university

August 17, 2019 by NewsLine Philippines

ILIGAN CITY — The National Bureau of Investigation – Iligan District Office (NBI-ILDO) arrested on Wednesday afternoon, August 14, a Youtube singer, a salon owner and a minor in two drug buy-bust operations inside the Mindanao State University campus in Marawi City.

NBI-ILDO Chief Atty. Abdul Jamal Dimaporo said their main target of the first operation was 27-year old Aminoden Basher, who is known as Farhan and Farhana, and the second subject of the operation was Hilal Gandamra, 32, known as Ganda.

Basher was arrested at the commercial center of the university while Gandamra was at the Cadayonan 2, all are inside MSU campus.

He is married with a child and his wife is now pregnant of their second child. He said he finished one year in Shariah law. His source of income is the commission he got from his post cover posts on youtube singing Maranao songs.

Gandamra, who said he not related with Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra, owns a salon in Marawi.

Dimaporo said Basher and Gandamra are known suppliers of “shabu” to students of MSU-Marawi and their operation extended up to Barangay Tambacan, in Iligan City.

They were arrested and jailed for drugs in July 2017 but their cases were dismissed in November of that same year.

Basher used a 17-year old high school student to deliver the drugs in his transaction with the NBI’s poseur buyer while he was looking out from a distance.

“Nagkaroon pa ng habulan (inside the campus) kasi tumatakas siya (Basher). When we got hold of him, that was also the time when we did a transaction with Gandamra,” Dimaporo said.

During the frisking, operatives seized an estimated two grams of believed to be shabu from Gandamra and the 14 thousand pesos bust money and another two grams from Basher.

The suspects admitted they are into the illegal activity and were crying saying they regret for what they did.

Dimaporo said they are now preparing cases against Basher and Gandamra in violation of Dangerous Drugs Act while the 17-year old will undergo a dental examination to prove he is a minor.

If the dental examination will prove that he is a minor, Dimaporo said, Basher will also face human trafficking charges. (Newsline)
