4 killed including policemen in surveillance operations in North Cotabato

MLANG, NORTH COTABATO —- Four persons were killed including two policemen early this morning, when an armed confrontation reportedly ensued in the course of a surveillance operation along the national highway in Purok 1, Barangay Bilaong.

Police LtCol . Realand Mamon, Chief of Police M’lang Municipal Police Station told Newsline, at about 5:30 in the morning two personnel of the Kidapawan Police namely: PCMS Fletcherlyn Dominic Lavega Pido and PSgt Arman Alquiza Bada informed his office about the operation against Jerson Papna, who was issued warrant of arrest.

“Jerson Papna died in police operation together with John Kevin Papna, and the policemen who conducted the surveillance operation were also killed,” Mamon told Newsline.

The operation was in connection with the PNP campaign against wanted person Jerson Papna who was issued warrant of arrest over a murder case filed before the Regional trial Court (RTC ) 12 Branch 23 in Kidapawan City.

“Unfortunately, in the course of the surveillance activity there was an armed confrontation,” Mamon revealed.

Police recovered empty shells and two .45 pistols and a 9mm pistol.

However, Heidee Papna, Jerson’s wife told Newsline in vernacular “The police policemen suddenly entered our area then without any word shoot Kevin and my husband, we did not see any documents, when we arrived the four were already dead.”

“Kanang ilang ginapagawas nga nag serve, dili jud na tinoud mam, dili na ko ignorante anang serve serve og warrant, kay na serve na sya dati, (They said that they served the warrant, it is not true, I am not ignorant, they served before).

Heidee said the incident happened at around 6:00 in the morning.
