DAVAO CITY —Four graduates of the state-run University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kacaban, North Cotabato occupied the top four spots in the December 2019 certification examination for registered microbiologists administered by the Philippine Academy of Microbiology.

In a Facebook post, the university proudly shared the victories of their four (4) alumni who occupied the topnotchers’ list grabbing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th slots.

Noralyn Subpangan, BS Biology cum laude topped the successful examinees, 2) Halima Aliudin, BS Biology magna cum laude, 3) Michael Bigcas, BS Biology cum laude, and 4) Mona Hasanath A. Kadingilan, BS Biology cum laude.

This was the second consecutive year that the University secured a place on the list of topnotchers, after James Bacaoco, Jr placed 7th in the December 2018 exam.

The 2019 Certification Exam for Registered Microbiologist was held on December 7 and 8, 2019 at the Trinity University of Asia.

A total of 79 over more than 300 examinees passed this year’s exam.

In a statement on Friday, Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia, USM-main campus president, said it was the second consecutive year that the university secured a place on the Top 10 list of topnotchers after James Bacaoco Jr. ranked seventh in the December 2018 certification exam for registered microbiologists.

Two of the passers were scholars of the Department of Agriculture (DA) 12 (Soccsksargen).

“We take pride in our consistent performance in producing not only passers but also topnotchers in licensure examinations,” Garcia added.
