DAVAO CITY — Army Colonel Allan Jose Taguba has officially taken command of the 701st Infantry (Kagitingan) Brigade, based in Mati City.

His appointment marks a new chapter for the brigade as it continues its mission to ensure peace and security in the region.

Colonel Taguba paid a courtesy visit to Davao Oriental Governor Niño Uy last Wednesday, October 15, where they discussed collaborative efforts for maintaining peace and order in the province.

During the meeting, Governor Uy expressed his support for Taguba, highlighting the importance of strong cooperation between the local government and the military in addressing security challenges.

“We look forward to a productive partnership with Colonel Taguba and the 701st Infantry Brigade,” Governor Uy stated. “Together, we can enhance the province’s safety and promote community development.”

Taguba succeeds Brigadier General Oliver Maquiling, who has been appointed as the Assistant Division Commander of the 7th Infantry (Related) Division at Fort Magsaysay in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija. Maquiling’s leadership in the 701st Infantry Brigade was marked by significant contributions to local security initiatives.

Prior to his assumption to his new post, Taguba held several key positions, including Deputy Brigade Commander of the 703rd Infantry (Eagle) Brigade, where he was instrumental in various military operations and community engagement activities. His extensive experience in different capacities is expected to strengthen the brigade’s operations and community relations in Davao Oriental.

As Taguba steps into his new role, he emphasized his commitment to working closely with local stakeholders to address security concerns and support the development of the region. The 701st Infantry Brigade plays a crucial role in regional stability, and Taguba’s leadership is anticipated to enhance its effectiveness in safeguarding the community.
