DAVAO CITY — Six persons were killed while 13 others were injured when a passenger van, a pick-up truck and a tricycle collided along the national highway of Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao del Norte, particularly in barangay Kurintem at around 4:30 a.m yesterday, March 5.

In a report published by Philippine News Agency, Sgt. Benjamin Bedo, the traffic investigator of Datu Odin Sinsuat, said the five fatalities were riding a van going to their family reunion in Maguindanao del Sur when the accident happened.

Bedo identified the fatalities as: Unasan Kaul (driver of the van), resident of Guindulgan, Maguindanao del Sur; and the passengers Norhaimin Baloadek, Manaut Guialudin, Kaidu Manalsal, and Mamakong Salimbao, from Gen. SK Pendatun, Maguindano del Sur.

The driver of the pick-up who was identified as Bomber Gani also died, while the driver of the tricycle who was still unidentified was critical

Bedo told the PNA that the pick-up truck was heading to South Cotabato when the vehicle side swept the tricycle who was running on the same lane and it overturned into the passenger van.

The two-kilometer straight highway is a four-lane road, which according to Sgt Bedo, prompts many drivers to run at their speed causing many vehicular accidents in the area.

F02 Rahib Malang, a member of the Shariff Aguak Emergency team, said most of the victims were wounded “Tatlo na ang patay noong dumating kami, pero marami din ang critical ( three died already when we arrived and many were critical.
