75th IB confiscates high-powered firearms in Surigao Sur

DAVAO CITY, Philippines —Forces from the 75th Infantry Battalion, under the operational control of the 401st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, seized ten high-powered firearms from the New People’s Army (NPA) following an hour-long encounter in Sitio Nalindong, Barangay Bolhoon, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur recently.

The confiscated items include five M16 rifles, an M203 grenade launcher, one Bushmaster rifle, three AK-47 rifles, six improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ten bandoliers with magazines and ammunition, eleven jungle backpacks with supplies and personal tools, cellphones, electronic gadgets, assorted medical supplies, and subversive documents.

According to a report from the 4th ID, the NPA was involved in extortion activities targeting farmers and small traders in the area. Air support during the operation prevented the NPA from sustaining their activities.
