80-year-old sea turtle crawls back to the sea after rescued

DAVAO CITY —An ‘octogenarian’ or an 80-year-old green sea turtle rescued in Barangay Luma, Kiamba, Sarangani Province but was aided to crawl back to it’s natural habitat0the sea.

The tortoise is approximately 80 years old, weighs 250 kilograms, 90 centimeters wide and 101 centimeters long was released to Sarangani Bay on Monday, May 13.

After the rescue the turtle was tagged and released back to the sea led by Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO), barangay officials and beach guards.

CENRO-Kiamba officer Felix Robles encourages the public not to harm any sighting turtle and inform DENR immediately if any turtle is discovered or rescued so that immediate action can be taken.
