Reelectionist Barangay Captain killed eve of May 14 Barangay, SK polls

DAVAO CITY (May 13) —  Reelectionist Barangay Captain Antonio Guatno of Pangyan, this city,  was killed eve of the Monday,  Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections 2018.

Police report showed.   the  Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) XI, Regional Mobile Force Company  and members of Calinan Police went to Guatno’s house at Purok 4A. barangay Pangyan, this city, to serve a search warrant on  reports of  illegal firearms.

City Police Director Alexander Tagum told Newsline.ph “The Barangay Captain was considered  a high value target.”

The DCPO spot report stated ” Operatives of CIDG RFU11, CIDG-Davao City Field Unit together with RIU11 and RMFB11 in coordination with Calinan PS implemented search warrant number 1963 issued by Hon. Judge Emmanuel C. Carpio, Executive Judge, RTC 11, Br. 16, Davao City dated May 11, 2018, against Antonio P. Guatno at Purok 4A, Brgy Pangyan, Calinan, Davao City. That prior entry on the premises, the person subject of the warrant drew his pistol aimed at the raiding team which prompted them to shoot the suspect. The suspect was immediately rushed to Isaac T. Robillo Memorial Hospital for medical attention, however, Dr. Daizha Delos Reyes declared Mr. Guatno dead on arrival (DOA).”

Authorities confiscated the following from the residence of Guatno:

1) One (1) pistol cal .45 with serial number 361855 with magazine inserted loaded with three (3) live ammunition and one (1) chamber load.

2) One (1) pistol cal 9mm with serial number T0620 with magazine inserted loaded fourteen (14) live ammunition and one (1) chamber load.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI director Antonio Rivera told Newsline.ph, Guatno graduated from Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRAP) last March 2018, he surrendered to the authorities last February, he admitted being a  drug user .

He was a former soldier, elected barangay captain of Pangyan in 2013.
