Localized thunderstorms to cause more rains, flooding and landslide in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY  (July 19)–More rains are expected due to localized thunderstorms, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).  For the past days,  Cagayan de Oro was battered by consistent rain brought by the southwest monsoon causing flooding across the city, landslide and subsequently, the cancellation of classes.

Landslide occured at 12 in the midnight of July 12, while people were asleep in Zone 5 Upper Kulambog,  Lapasan, this city, causing an electric post to decline.  On July 10,  the streets of Villarin; Max Suniel.; CM Recto (Pimentel, Osmena, USTP, Ketkai; Corrales Ext.-Pacana; JV Serina St.; Gumamela Ext., Carmen; and Kauswagan Highway, were unpassable due to high quantity of water that flooded the specific areas.

All low-lying or flood prone school areas were advised to suspend their class due to unpleasant weather condition.   According to the Department of Education, the Camaman-an Elementary School; Lapasan National High school; Canitoan Elementary and High school, Angeles Sisters National High school; Consolacion Elementary School; CDO National High school; Carmen National High school; Bulua National High school; Macanhan Elementary School; San Simon Elementary school, Agusan and Indahag Elementary and National High school have suspended their respective classes.-Hensell Prince Hebaya/NewsLine.ph
