Duterte visits wake of ambushed cop in Camarines Sur

DAVAO CITY (October 24) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday visited the wake of PO1 Ralph Jason Vida, one of three policemen killed in an ambush in Camarines Sur on October 18.

Vida was one of three cops slain when gunmen fired at the convoy of Food and Drug Administration director Nela Charade Puno in Barangay Napolindan past 9 a.m. Thursday last week. Puno  survived the ambush.

The other fatalities were Senior Police Officer 1 Percival Rafael and PO3 Carlito Navarroza. Three others were injured in the ambush.

Duterte conferred the Order of Lapu Lapu Rank of Kalasag on slain cops.

The Norben Gruta Command of the New People’s Army has claimed responsibility for the attack of Puno’s convoy.

The President also condoled with the families of Pvt. Ruben Bersabe and Cafgu Active Auxiliaries (CAA) Teodoro Adoptante who were killed in two separate encounters with NPA rebels in Labo, Camarines Norte and Lupi, Camarines Sur on October 14.

Duterte handed financial assistance as well as educational assistance to the grieving families. Duterte conferred the Order of Lapu Lapu Rank of Kalasag to Bersabe and Adoptante.

The Kalasag Medal is awarded to officials and personnel of the government and private individuals who lost their lives as a direct result of their participation in an activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President.-NewsLine.ph
