Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Davao to discuss joint exploration in South China Sea

DAVAO CITY (October 28)-  Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Davao City on Oct. 28 to 29 to discuss the planned joint exploration in the South China Sea and on a possible partnership with the government’s Build, Build, Build infrastructure program.

Mr. Wang met with Philippine government officials in Davao City, which is also the hometown of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.  He is set to meet with the economic team and sign bilateral documents.

His visit which was originally scheduled last Sept. 16 to 18 but was canceled due to typhoon Ompong.

On July 2017, Wang pushed for joint development to extract oil and natural gas in the West Philippine Sea.  He also offered China as the “good brother” of the Philippines. Chinese President Xi Jinping is also expected to visit the country on November. – NewsLine
