DAVAO CITY (November 2)– Ten local government units (LGUs) from Northern Mindanao successfully clinched the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for this year.
For the City Government, El Salvador City retained its spot in the list of awardees, while for Municipal Governments, the following bagged the seal for this year: Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte; Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte; Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte; Sapad, Lanao del Norte; Maramag, Bukidnon; Pangatucan, Bukidnon; Sagay, Camiguin; Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental; and Lugait, Misamis Oriental.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe commended the said LGUs saying that the feat indicates their exemplary service delivery—the service that the public deserves.
“It was challenging for all of our LGUs to attain the SGLG award, and we are proud that 10 of our LGUs exemplified outstanding performance despite the elevated SGLG standards,” DILG RD Arnel M. Agabe said.
SGLG is a yearly award and incentive program for performing local governments to encourage and challenge all provinces, cities, and municipalities to improve their performance and service delivery.
For this year, having the major upgrade: 4+1 to All-In, the LGU must pass all the core areas — Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Peace and Order; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Management; and Tourism, Culture, and the Arts.
Also, for a province to qualify, 10% of its component cities and municipalities must be passers (DILG Memorandum Circular 2018-49, entitled “2018 Seal of Good Local Governance: Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal”). Agabe said that passing the upgraded SGLG indicators is recognizing LGUs with excellent local governance.- NewsLine
