DAVAO CITY (January 20)–  All system go for the plebiscite in the territorial jurisdiction of the Bangsamoro region on Monday, January 21.   It will cover 39 barangays in North Cotabao,  areas under the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Cotabato City, Isabela City in Basilan, six towns in Lanao del Norte,  and other contiguous areas that seek to be included in the region.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte said that whatever the outcome of the plebiscite, will be complied and respected.  “The BOL as a legislation would correct the historical injustices committed against the Moro people,” he emphasized during the Peace Assembly for the BOL in Cotabato City last Friday, January 18.

“Your approval of this law will not only serve as an expression of your desire to end more than half a century of armed struggle in the region. It will also serve as a testament to your determination to bring genuine peace and development in Muslim Mindanao through an autonomous government that truly represents and understands the needs of the people,” Duterte added.

The Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) was signed into law by the President on July 26, 2017 which seeks to establish a new Bangsamoro political entity to replace the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. ecz/ NewsLine
