In DavOr: Rain subsides, displaced families advised to go home

MATI, DAVAO ORIENTAL (January 28) -–The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council (PDRRMC) here has advised the 312 families from Cateel town, to go home as rain subsided.

The residents left their homes  following the pre-emptive evacuation order early Sunday morning.

As of Sunday night, January 27, advisories about the  heavy rainfall in Mindanao was lifted, but the disaster office continues to monitor  the river beds.

The three-day heavy downpour brought about by  the tail-end of a cold front has rendered residents from Cateel town to temporarily evacuate.

The residents from the villages of  Barangay Abejod, Barangay Santa Fe,  Barangay San Rafael, San Alfonso, San Vicente, Alegria,  San Miguel, and from  Poblacion, evacuated  as ordered by the  MDRRMO.

Said  barangays are considered vulnerable as they are living near the mouth of Aragon Dam.

While the Municipality of Cateel has activated its Incident Command System, the PDRRMC has also deployed equipment and manpower to assist in the transport of evacuees, clearing and other interventions in the affected areas.
