Mayor’s daughter, partner arrested in drug ops

DAVAO CITY (March 17) —  Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Norther Mindanao arrested the daughter of Midsalip, Zamboanga del sur, and his partner for illegal possession of drugs and firearm, inside their store in Barangay Talairon, Oroqueta city.  Friday afternoon, March 15.

Wilkins Villanueva, PDEA 10 director, identified the suspect as Liwaya Angcap-Paras, daughter of the incumbent Midsalip Municipal Mayor Leonida Angcap, who was included in the ‘narcolist’ recently release by President Rodrigo Duterte Thursday evening.

Also arrested was Paras live-in partner, Leander Lumantas, which according to Villanueva is a known drug user from Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

Liwaya, is a former mayor of the same town.

The couple is considered as among the top seven drug personalities in the province of Misamis Occidental.O

The PDEA agents confiscated from their possession the following:

  • 15 sachets of shabu weighing MOL 25 grams worth Php 125,000.00.
  • 2 pcs disassembled M4 Cal. 5.56 rifles 
  • 1 pc Cal. 45 pistol (loaded with magazine and ammunition) 
  • 6 pcs Magazines for Cal. 5.56
  • Assorted Cal. 5.56 and Cal. 45 ammunitions

Villanueva said Liwaya was a member of the Kubal Drug Group under Ardot Parojinog, which is operating in this province, and listed as a high-value target for alleged illegal drug activities.

Liwaya is also a cousin of Mary Ann Angcap, a barangay chairman of Labuyo in Tangub City who was arrested in 2017 and convicted the following year for illegal drugs.

Villanueva said the two Angcaps — Liwaya and Mary Ann — were “downlines” of Ardot Parojinog.
