4 bus drivers, 4 conductors tested positive of illegal drugs use-PDEA

DAVAO CITY (April 16) — Four bus drivers and four bus conductors of the 308 transport industry workers, tested positive of illegal drugs use in a surprise drug test yesterday at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT).

Antonio Rivera, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA XI) told Newsline.ph, “We conducted the drug test In connection with the implementation of Oplan Huli Week, and eight of the total 308 individuals tested positive of illegal drugs use- ‘shabu’.

Rivera said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will call the attention of the bus company owners about the involvement of their employees “But if they will ask our support for the rehabilitation, we can help them.”

The suprise drug testing was jointly coordinated among PDEA XI, LTFRB, Land Transportation Office (LTO), City Traffic and Transport Management Office (CTTMO), Highway Patrol Group and the Talomo Police.

The mandatory drug testing involved 190 bus drivers, 114 conductors, 3 dispatchers and 1 inspector at Davao Overland Transport Terminal, Ecoland Davao City.
