COTABATO CITY — The first day of classes in public and private schools in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) on Monday has been peaceful and orderly with policemen managing the traffic and providing ample security to students and teachers.

In a report, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 said there were no reported untoward incidents in all schools on the first day of the school year 2019-2020.

“All schools that opened today were orderly and peaceful,” said Lt. Colonel Aldrin Gonzales, PRO-12 spokesperson, over a local radio station Monday afternoon.

A heavy downpour, however, prevailed over the region on the first day of school.

Gonzales said Brig. Gen. Elise Rasco, PRO-12 director, has commended all police personnel deployed even to the remotest public schools in the region for a job well done.

Rasco has ordered the deployment of available cops in all public and private schools to ensure smooth flow of traffic and to ensure no single student or pupil is harmed by lawless elements or lawbreakers.

Region 12 or the Soccsksargen development compose the provinces of South and North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani and the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal, and General Santos. -PNA
