ILIGAN CITY (JULY 4) —– Teresita Gerona-Quijano, the wife of former Iligan City Mayor Franklin Quijano is missing, she left their house on June 27, the family reported to the police on July 2.
Quijano is the administrator of the Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation (PHIVIDEC), a government-owned and controlled corporation located in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
The family has circulated the picture of Salma and contact numbers with a plea to help them find Mrs. Quijano.
She was last seen at their house in Purok 3-A, Dao, Barangay Hinaplanon, at 10:30 in the morning on June 27.
Franklin’s younger brother, Roberto, said the family previously made the calls for help through private messaging only to protect the security of Salma.
“We are rolling out the possibility that she has been abducted because we cannot see indications. She left her cellular phone, we reviewed CCTV footage, we could not see any commotions during the time when she was at home,” the younger Quijano said in a phone interview.
The family had also checked on the different retreat houses and hotels in Northern Mindanao but there was no indication that Salma had checked in there.
“She brought few pieces of her clothes and personal things, including a bank passbook, but there was no movement of her account when we had it check at the bank,” Roberto Quijano said.
Few months ago, Salma’s former yaya (nanny) died and after which the family observed her being quiet, and saw changes in her appetite.
“Salma was very close to her yaya who have taken cared of her since she was a little child,” Roberto said.
They noticed her mood swings, but she ever talked what was bothering her, “There might be some reasons,” he added.
“But they (Franklin and Salma) did not fight; they are a very sweet couple. They are members of the Couples for Christ,” Quijano further said.-Divina M. Suson/NewsLine.
