‘Baste’ urges youth to be politically active

DAVAO CITY–Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has called on the youth to be politically active in order to participate more in the affairs of the city.

During a media briefing Tuesday afternoon, the young Duterte stressed the need for the young Dabawenyos to be well-informed on the current issues facing the local government.

“They should limit the use of social media and playing online games for they should know what’s happening in the city. They might want to enter politics in the near future,” he added.

In connection with the use of gadgets among the younger population, Baste expressed support for the proposal of City Councilor Jonard Dayap to penalize pedestrians wearing headphones while crossing the streets.

Dayap said the measure aims to ensure the safety of both pedestrians and motorists, noting that the use of gadgets in the road has become a rising cause of accidents in the city. –PNA
