Former Maguindanao town vice mayor arrested for gun possession

DAVAO CITY — Authorities arrested on Wednesday, August 21 , Nasser Gumila Uko, the former vice mayor of Kabuntalan town in Maguindanao for possessing an unlicensed firearms.

Major Joseph Nandu, deputy police chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-BARMM), said a team of CIDG and city police operatives served a search warrant at 3 p.m. against Uko in Barangay Tamontaka 3, Cotabato City.

The search warrant, dated August 15, 2019, was issued by Judge Kasan Abdulrakman of the Regional Trial Court, 12th Judicial Region, Branch 27, Cotabato City.

Seized from Uko was a .45-caliber pistol with nine bullets and other documents.

Uko, former vice mayor of Kabuntalan, Maguindanao, did not resist arrest, police said. The former official also refused to speak to local reporters.

Nandu said Uko is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.” He is currently detained at CIDG-BARMM custodial facility at Pedro Colina Hill, this city. -with report from PNA
