Released convict surrenders in Davao

DAVAO CITY — A convict from Davao Penal Colony (Dapecol) who was among the 1,914 released due to good conduct time allowance voluntarily surrendered before Sasa Police Station Friday morning, September 6.

In a press statement, the Davao City Police Office said, a certain Danilo Palicte Y Alvarez who was released from Dapecol last April 16, 2019 , showed up and subjected himself to authorities for disposition at around 10:25 in the morning.

This developed as another convicted felon Jesus Ranoco Negro Jr., from Bogo City, also surrendered Friday in Cebu City.

Ranoco was convicted due to eight counts of murder and was released through GCTA.

Palicte who was convicted for statutory rape, had served forty (40) years, but was released pursuant to the Article 70 of the Revised Penal Code per Memorandum of USEC Nicanor E. Faeldon, Director General, Bureau of Correction.

The two claimed they have been living peacefully, but when they saw President Rodrigo Duterte asking all convicts released through GCTA, they immediately surrendered to authorities.

At present, Palicte resides at Lot1 Block 1, Bajada, River Village, Davao City and was under the custody of Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB), DCPO for proper disposition.-EZC/NewsLine.ph
