14 residents from isolated village airlifted

MAKILALA, North Cotabato— The remaining 14 individuals in the isolated village of Kapatagan, Luayon, Makilala , have been airlifted Sunday morning November 3.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 12, in a report stated “14 remaining villagers were airlifted by rescue choppers of the Philippine Airforce before noon today (Nov. 3)”.

The rescue operations in the area was a challenged, the 14-member Philippine Army troop walked for hours to reach the area for assessment of the community to identify the and clear the landing zone.

The village has been isolated after the October 29 earthquake, some residents brave to cross the mudflows to reach the evacuation center in Camp Aurora, old Bulatukan.

The PIA-12 report said, Initially, 21 residents were targeted for extraction by air; however, 7 residents opted to walk despite the danger of taking the road littered with landslides to bring with them their livestock and motorcycles.
