COTABATO CITY — To cushion the impact of the natural calamity that befell Kidapawan City, the local government is proposing a 20 percent tax relief to all real property taxpayers beginning January 2020.
“If approved by the City Council, this tax relief will start in January,” Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said in a statement Tuesday.
The move is to show that the city government sympathizes with Kidapaweños who were affected by the calamity.
Evangelista admitted that the tax relief will have an impact on the city’s revenue in the coming year and the implementation of development projects but stressed that it is also important to cushion the effects of calamity to taxpayers.
The proposed tax relief will cover the period from January 1 to December 31, 2020.
Evangelista said he has forwarded the proposal to the City Council for approval.-PNA
