DOH reports first Mindanao COVID-19 death

DAVAO CITY — The Department of Health Saturday morning, March 14, reported the first COVID-19  fatality from Mindanao.

The Health department in a statement said, PH-40 died at 9 p.m. March 13, at the Northern Mindanao Medical Centre, due to acute respiratory distress syndrome due to severe pneumonia with concomitant Acute kidney injury.

The DOH revealed the latest fatality was admitted to the hospital after onset of symptoms last February 24.

 The patient was working in San Juan in Metro Manila and went home to Lanao del Sur before he was admitted to a private hospital in Iligan then was referred to a government hospital in Cagayan de Oro City on March 8.

The death toll of the pandemic has now reached to six.
