DAVAO CITY — The management of the quake-hit Eva hotel in Kidapawan City has started to demolish the structure.

Eva hotel was the face of the magnitude 6.8 earthquake in North Cotabato as the edifice used to reflect the hotel and tourism industry in North Cotabato.

Kidapawan City tourism officer Joey Recimilla said the management has complied all the requirements for the demolition of the building which is located just in front of Kidapawan City Hall.

“The demolition has started following the management and the city government agreed terms about the demolition procedure,” Recimilla stated. The management, according to Recimilla shouldered the cost of the demolition.

Reports have it, the demolition took time as both parties also had a hard time resolving the issues concerning the cost of demolishing the structure.

As it is now, the city has the capacity to accommodate tourist as some low-rise hotels and inns have returned to its normal operation following the series of earthquake which hit southern Mindanao starting October 16, 2019.-Editha Z. Caduaya
