TWO quarantine sites that can accommodate about 100 patients under investigation (PUI) were inspected Thursday by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The two sites, the Alternative Learning School (ALS) can accommodate 59 patients while La Vidal Hotel can cater to 37 patients.

Preparation for Queensland Hotel’s 160 rooms for PUIs is also underway.

Currently the Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Malagos is already operational for 30 PUI patients.

Duterte assured that services in these facilities will be free of charge and patients will be provided with all their essential needs during their quarantine.

Meanwhile, Duterte has suspended the issuance of quarantine passes by the barangay leaders following chaos and confusion it created.

Duterte called on barangay leaders to wait for the official government guidelines to unify the implementation of the quarantine passes.

Several village leaders initiated the issuance of quarantine passes in their barangays as a measure to control mass gathering.

Duterte said the quarantine passes are ideal in controlling the people inside the barangays, however, barangays imposed different guidelines and different kinds of passes which confused Dabawenyos.

“We decided to issue an order sa atong atoang barangay captains to cease the distribution of passes because maghulat sila kung mag order ang City Government og passes. (We decided to issue an order for our barangay captains to cease the distribution of passes because they should wait for the City Government to order the issuance of passes),” she said.

Duterte said the city will not implement the quarantine passes until the City Government implements an Enhanced Community Quarantine. (With reports from CIO)
