Frontliners fear PPE supply shortage

DAVAO CITY –- Frontliners attending to patients suspected of having coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic expressed alarm of possible personal protective equipment (PPE) shortage.

Dr. Leopoldo Vega, Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), chief of hospital said they are now scouting for PPE suppliers in Metro Manila though they are getting donations but they need to sustain the requirement.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Vega said they are using the disposable PPE’s and they need to find a durable one “from a right supplier.”

The fight to end the pandemic, according to Vega is still uncertain. They need sufficient supply at this point.hey are in dire need to be provided with the desired resources during this time.

“By that kind of strategy, the workers are given the support that they need especially the desired kind of protection so that they don’t get contaminated,” he said.

He also called on the help of donors who can provide health workers and frontliners with more PPE.

He also called on generous individuals or groups to help them in this cause.-ezc
