11 PUI deaths in Davao region

DAVAO CITY (29 March 2020) – The Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD) announced that 11 deaths have been recorded in the Department of Health (DOH) Davao Region.

Of the 11 deaths, 4 had tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and 4 were confirmed to be non-carriers of the virus. Three of the fatalities did not get confirmation prior to their deaths and the Center is currently awaiting results.

The announcement released by DCHD Saturday likewise confirmed a total of 30 cases of the disease in the region.

The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) is currently providing medical care to 20 of said patients.

Four patients were reported to have recovered from the disease.

The national death toll is now at 1,075 when DOH reported 272 new cases Saturday afternoon.

The DOH also confirmed expansion of testing efforts with 5 new government test laboratories that are now in operation in addition to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) which has been processing all tests coming from across the nation since the outbreak began in early March.
