Briones, Año now Covid-19 negative

DAVAO CITY –Both Education Secretary Leonor Briones and Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año have recovered from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and tested negative of the infection.

“With God’s grace and your fervent prayers, I am happy to announce that my latest swab test yielded negative from Covid-19 according to the advisory of the Department of Health (DOH) today, Monday. I would like to thank everyone, especially my immediate relatives, colleagues, churchmates, and my DepEd family, who prayed and expressed moral support for my quick recovery from Covid-19,” Briones said in a statement.

“Nag negative na test ko sa RITM (My test results at RITM was negative). I received it today. I was tested last April 8,” Año said.

However, Briones needs to be in isolation for seven for more days.

She said people who were in close contact with her are all under monitoring.

She tested positive of the disease in a test conducted on April 2.

Año, on the other hand, initially went on 14-day home quarantine on March 26 after ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap announced he tested positive for Covid-19.

The secretary is still on home quarantine. “Konting (Still few) days for quarantine pa as part of the protocol just to be safe,” he said.

Año urged the people he had contact with to follow the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines on self-quarantine.
