DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director general Aaron Aquino as the president and chief operations officer of the Clark International Airport Corporation on 22 May 2020. He will be replaced by Colonel Wilkins Villanueva the director from Northern Mindanao.

Aquino and Villanueva both served Davao City in different capacities during the incumbency of Duterte as City Mayor.

Aquino, a retired police official, was appointed to lead the PDEA in 2017. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1985 while Villanueva is from Class 1992.

In his Facebook post, Villanueva said “After almost 2 decades of serving our country on the field of drug enforcement through different capacities and positions, both with PNP Narcotics Group and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, I finally achieved what I was aiming for… DIRECTOR GENERAL OF PDEA.”

Villanueva expressed his utmost gratitude to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte “For giving me his trust and confidence to lead our country’s War On Drugs. I will never fail you MR. PRESIDENT! Many thanks to Senator Bong Go and Ronald dela Rosa, for your encouragement and support… it really matters a lot”.

He also thanked his classmates and all those who have been supporting his journey, especially his family.-Newsline
