TF-Davao and PDEA net P.8-million bust in a day

June 29, 2020 by Editha Z. Caduaya

DAVAO CITY — The massive intelligence and inter-agency collaboration in the fight against illegal drugs in the city have yielded P801,800 worth of confiscated drugs in two separate operations today, June 29.

Task Force Davao Commander Consolito Yecla told Newsline, at around 1:45 in the afternoon on Monday, personnel of the composite team from task Force Davao and Bunawan police apprehended Datumanot Cawine Awal, 28 years old, single and a resident of Sentro Luayan, Mangundadatu, Maguindanao who was trying to bring in illegal drugs to the city.

Two hours after, the Philippine Drug Enforcement agency XI led by director Antonio Rivera conducted a buy-bust operation in Purok 3-C, Luzviminda subd., Brgy. San Francisco, Panabo City where a certain Jason Webb was apprehended with 11 grams of illegal drugs in his possession.

Intercepted from Awal’s possession was One (1) piece heat-sealed plastic transparent sachet containing a white crystalline substance believed to be “SHABU” with an estimated weight of MOL 45.40 grams, with an estimated street value of Seven Hundred Twenty Six Thousand Four Hundred (726,400.00‬) Pesos, Yecla added.

Rivera said confiscated from Pueblo’s possession was more or less 11 grams worth of shabu P 74,800.00; Sec. 5 and 11 of Art. II of RA 9165.

Bunawan Police Chief Major Noel Villahermosa in an interview with Newsline revealed, Awal was riding a taxicab from Davao del Norte and when he reached the TF-Davao’s Licanan, Bunawan checkpoint, he went through the mandatory check body frisking.

“Noong nag frisk na sa kanya, napansin na may laman ang bulsa nya at nakuha ang dala nyang illegal drugs (When he was frisked, the operatives noticed the content inside his pant’s pocket which yielded the illegal drugs),” Villahermosa stressed.

Rivera said the joint operation in Panabo City was conducted at around 3:30 in the afternoon after their agent sealed a transaction with Pueblo.

The arrest of Awal and Pueblo is a collaborative effort among men-in-uniform and the community who provided information to the operations.

The TF-Davao team was led by Captain Sarausas while the Bunawan policemen were led by Villahermosa.
