PH Army inducts Sara, Robin Padilla as new advisors

July 9, 2020 by Editha Z. Caduaya

MANILA– The Philippine Army Multi-Sector Advisory Board (PA MSAB) welcomed new members on its regular meeting via video conferencing on Wednesday where Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and actor Robin Padilla took their oath as advisory board members.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay led the oath-taking and ceremonial pinning of the Army Transformation Roadmap pin to the new members.

Board members are composed of individuals coming from the government, media, business, defense, and youth sectors.

The PA MSAB was created to promote the continuity and sustainability of the Army Transformation Roadmap and to encourage shared responsibility through its committees including Governance; Resource Management; Review and Assessment; Strategic Communication; and, Research and Education.

The current board is headed by Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Charito Plaza. Army reservist Matteo Guidicelli is also a member.

Other personalities include businessmen Tony Aquino, Luigi Bernas, Dr. Isabel Suntay, and Dong Mangudadatu.

Davao de Oro Governor Tyron Uy, Muntinlupa Congressman Ruffy Biazon, Davao de Oro Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong are also active members of the Board.

Duterte-Carpio joined the education committee and was eventually selected as committee chair.

Padilla, on the other hand, joined the strategic communications committee where Guidicelli, Atty. Alex Lacson, and strategic communications practitioner, Harold Clavite, are also part of.

In his message, Gapay noted that MSAB has been a long-time partner of the Army in the navigation to realize its goals. He added that the “board’s existence has been evident—and significant—in bridging the gap between the Army, private sector, and civil society.”

In his closing message, Gapay exhorted the Board to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

“To the newly inducted members, I welcome you with gratitude, trusting in your commitment to champion the cause that is the Army Transformation Roadmap. Let us promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency and let us become a world-class Army that is a source of national pride,” he said.
