DOTr completes Malalag, Davao del Sur port rehab

DAVAO CITY –— The Department of Transportation on Monday announced the completion of the wharf expansion and rehabilitation of the port Port of Malalag in Davao del Sur.

In a statement, the DOTr said, the expansion and restoration of the port came after the local government turned-over the facility to the DOTs and the Philippine Ports Authority in 2017 which is among the ports subjected for uplift under the modernization program.

The uplift, the port now has a bigger landing zone and the wharf extended to accommodate more vessels.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said the port can now accommodate bigger vessels.

The RC Wharf, the Access Trestle, and they are well lighted to facilitate evening arrivals and activities.

The port was completed in September 2019 but was officially launched in a virtual ceremony on June 12, 2020. –Newsline
