DAVAO CITY   — President Rodrigo Duterte’s isolation czar and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar is in isolation after he has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a Facebook post, Villar stated “I regret to announce that today, July 15, I received my test result and it is positive for Covid-19″.

Due to his health status, Villar did not attend the inauguration of the final section of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway set on Wednesday.

He will also skip the scheduled inspection of the new terminal building of the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.

Before his announcement, Villar was on top of the construction of additional isolation facilities for coronavirus patients.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier described Villar as the “isolation czar”, however, Covid-19 caught him and put him in isolation.

Early on, other cabinet secretaries namely: Leonora Briones (Education), Eduardo Año (Interior and Local Government) and, Armed Forces Chief of Staff Felimon Santos Jr. were also tested but yielded negative results after immediate isolation and proper medication. They are now actively doing their responsibilities.-Newsline
