DAVAO CITY — The city government of Kidapawan on Monday inaugurated its P5-million worth of refrigerated centrifuge and temporary blood center.

This, despite the ongoing debate over the Supplemental Budget No. 8 at the City Council.

Mayor Joseph Evangelista on Monday led the Blessing and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, the facility will serve as the blood storage of the city government.

One of the primary purposes of establishing the facility is to respond to the blood needed by patients hit by dengue.

With the facility in place, Evangelista said those who need immediate blood will no longer travel to Cotabato City or Davao City to get a supply since the facility can now respond to their need.

The Refrigerated Centrifuge will process the blood to its component like the platelet and pack the RBC for those who need a blood transfusion.

Although the budget encountered glitch at the Sangguniang Panlungsod as debate heat up during the discussion, this prompted Vice Mayor Jivy Roe Bombeo to adjourn the session.

The budget contained in SB No. 8, was specially requested by Evangelista as the old machine has been dilapidated.

Aside from the above-mentioned facility, the city government also facilitated the National Voluntary Blood Services Program of the Department of Health, which is housed in refrigerated vans from the Energy Development Corporation.

The facility is currently located at the Pavilion inside the City Plaza. Newsline
