Flash floods damage P2.8-M crops in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY –— The Monday dawn flash floods here has damaged some P2.8-million crops.

The City agriculture office in its partial report said some 75-hectare rice fields and vegetable farms in Culianan District were damaged due to flash floods early Monday, September 14.

The heavy downpour and strong winds caused the destruction of several houses, street flooding, and uprooted trees causing a power outage in various parts of the city.

Mayor Beng Climaco has directed the CDRRMO to be on alert 24/7 and at the same time advised the public and the BDRRMCs to monitor the situation in their respective areas and to take appropriate actions if the situation calls for it.-Merasol Montesa/RMN Zamboanga
