BP Gabriela Silang brings home 76 LSIs to Davao

DAVAO CITY — Some 76 locally stranded individuals arrived in Sasa port on Friday aboard the Philippine Navy’s BP Gabriela Silang.

The Philippine Port Authority is a statement said the LSIs underwent health and safty protocol upon arrival in Sasa Wharf.

They were immediately transported to the vehicles of the local government units where they belong and will undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine in the respective provinces.

The LSIs were sent home after they lost employment due to the health crisis.

The Department of Transportation reported that as of 24 September 2020, the ‘Hatid-Tulong Program’ has assisted and served a total of 218,452 OFWs; 67,668 of which were transported by land; 103,930 using air transport (data for land and air transport are from May 25 – September 24); and, via sea transport 46,854 (sea travel from April 27 – September 24).-Newsline.ph
