DIPOLOG CITY —– The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has formally charged a trader here for possession of illegal drugs before the court on Wednesday.

Former Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Edwin Capili, 63, and partner Sidney Sumalpong, 36, were arrested on October 23 in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Zamboanga del Norte ay Purok Mabulo, South Baybay, Barangay Galas, this city.

On Monday, the PDEA announced that Capili’s drug test result was found positive of using illegal drugs.

PDEA Provincial Officer Agent Marvin Santos said Capili and Sumalpong have been charged in court for violating the country anti-illegal drug law.

The two were arrested inside their pension house after an agent who acted as a buyer handed to Capili the marked money in exchange for a sachet of ‘shabu’.

Santos said the PDEA has been conducting surveillance on the activities of Capili for months as he has been identified as among the major players of the illegal drug trade in the city.

Upon frisking, PDEA personnel claimed they found two more sachets of shabu inside his pants.-Eva Masturil /Newsline.ph
