OZAMIZ CITY— In an unexpected turn of events, President Rodrigo Duterte found an ally when the later’s basher shouted ‘Nasaan ang Pangulo’ when tyhpoon’s ROlly and Ulysses hit the country.

Ozamiz Archbishop Martin Jumoad, C.M. D.D, in an interview with a catholic-run radio station dxDD-AM, said people must not put the blame on the President because it is not time to blame at any time because what happened is a natural disaster.

“Instead of blaming, people should help each other,” Jumoad said.

The church leader believes, Duterte has done his best to respond to the needs of the residents who have been displaced due to the onslaught of typhoon Ulysses which resulted in the massive flooding in Cagayan valley.

He said people should not expect that when a calamity strikes, the President instantly arrives, he added, “The President needs to assess the situation first and plan out what the people needs and how will the government respond to the situation”.

Jumaod said, the presence of the President the day after the calamity was proof that he is with his people.

The President, according to the Bishop, does not need to show to the social media the things that he is preparing for these people, given the magnitude of the problem.

During his days, a Davao Mayor, Duterte is not fond of media coverage every time he responds to calamities and the same attitude he adopts as the President now.

Duterte’s critics are quick to shout in various social media accounts #Nasaanangpangulo but little did they know Duterte is sleepless as he always monitors the movement of his people on the ground working to help the affected residents.- Neptalie Batolenio/Newsline.ph
